3.19.12 Orchids in Bloom: Styled Shoot

March is the month when all the orchids in my dad's greenhouse are in full bloom, so what better time for an editorial styled photoshoot! For our model, I designed an orchid hair piece and bouquet that had a lush, organic feel to it. Styling something a little more unique than the traditional wedding bouquet, I love working with orchids because they bring an element of elegance and exquisite detail to my designs. Enjoy the following photos courtesy of Gema Blanton, who did a beautiful job working with the tricky greenhouse lighting and captured some stunning shots.

Our photoshoot was featured on the Glamour & Grace blog. How exciting, check it out!

3.3.12 Daniel + Kameron

Coral & white, what a stunning color combination for this lovely March wedding couple. Daniel and Kameron are a truly perfect match and their wedding was an equally beautiful blend of both elegance and fun. Inspired by a local winery Kiepersol Estates, whose labels bear the newlyweds' initials, we designed the reception centerpieces to incorporate the glass bottles, while keeping the flowers light and simple. Kameron's bouquet was filled with gorgeous white ranunculus, peonies, and mini calla lilies, coral roses, and hypericum berries. I love the single snapshot of her with the bouquet; her smile is absolutely infectious. In the end, the wedding party certainly enjoyed themselves as they danced well off into the night (comfortably in their coral Toms and white sneakers).

6.18.11 Scotty + Bernadette

From the lush Hawaiian Islands to the East Texas pines, this wedding was a beautiful combination of rustic and tropical flare. Bride and groom, Bernadette and Scotty, were a joy to work with and since she was still living in Hawaii, we met and did all the planning over the phone. Bernadette loves to surf and we wanted to incorporate her personality in as many elements as possible. We had a variety of exotic orchids flown in from Hawaii, "message in a bottle" table centerpieces, and I borrowed a friend's surfboard for a few portraits. Who knew cowboy boots and Hawaiian leis went together so well?.. More importantly though, Bernadette became a dear friend of mine and now even assists me in some of my weddings! What a wonderful, sweet bride and friend.

3.27.2011 Southern Vintage Wedding Gala: Styled Shoot

Hello and welcome to my very first blog!

I am so excited about what the future holds as I start out on my own floral design company and getting to share snippets of what I'm up to with each of you all.  After over 30 years of growing and working along side my parent's floral business, I've decided to venture off on my own...and what better way to kick off my new company than with a debut at Southern Vintage Wedding Gala hosted by Stone Oak Ranch in Murchison, Texas.

For the gala event, I created a table centerpiece with a soft and romantic feel, featuring some of my favorite flowers: garden roses, peonies, hydrangeas, and ranunculus.  I also added a bit of Queen Anne's Lace, hanging amaranthus, and hazelnut branches accented with vintage crystals to give a whimsical touch.

When it comes to floral design, I enjoy being able to create something unique but with a very natural, timeless feel. For instance, I love incorporating elements such as vines, succulents, bromeliad plants, mosses, and just about any other piece of nature I can get my hands on into my designs. This mixture of natural elements and more unusual flowers in my bouquet exemplify how I interpret design.

Two Dandelions, "Where Nature and Design Come Together"

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I hope you will be inspired by what you see!

Blessings,

Diane
